Guardianship is a specialized area of the law dealing with the capabilities of individuals to exercise their legal rights. The infirm and the elderly are often alleged to be either incapable of exercising their own rights or subject to undue influence by others due to their circumstances. Guardianship laws were enacted to protect these vulnerable citizens.
With extensive experience in this field of law, I can represent individuals alleged to be incapacitated or vulnerable, their family members or other interested parties in these proceedings.
Guardianship proceedings are usually conducted in a very short period of time from commencement to completion. It is extremely important that the client have competent and experienced representation, especially when dealing with sensitive issues such as cognitive changes that have a profound effect on everyday behavior. I have the knowledge and experience to address these difficult issues and reach a resolution. The guardian is responsible for looking out for the best interest of the ward and to assure that their assets are put to the best use throughout their lifetime. I can continue to represent the guardian after the establishment of the guardianship.
